Connect HighLevel to an automation and NerdyTags adds your subscribers and leads to HighLevel for you. Each new subscriber becomes a contact in your HighLevel sub-account, and contact form submissions are added with their answers saved as a note. Everything is tagged, so it's easy to find and use in your HighLevel workflows.
You'll set this up in NerdyTags Business under Automations. You'll also need access to the HighLevel sub-account you want to send contacts to. There's no API key to copy: you approve the connection in HighLevel itself.
Step 1: Open the automation
In the sidebar, go to Automations, then create a new automation or open an existing one.
Under Send to apps, click Connect an integration.
On the Integrations card, click Connect HighLevel.
Each automation can have up to 5 integrations, so you can send the same leads to HighLevel and other apps at once.
Want to do more with the same automation, like getting notified or posting to chat? See Automation actions: notify, email, tag and post to chat.
Step 2: Approve the connection in HighLevel
There's no NerdyTags dialog for this one. Clicking Connect HighLevel takes you straight to HighLevel's own Install confirmation screen for the app NerdyTags Business CRM. If you aren't logged in to HighLevel, you'll be asked to log in first.
The screen lists the permissions NerdyTags asks for:
Contacts: read and write
Locations: read, and read tags
Opportunities: read and write

Click Next.
Step 3: Choose your sub-account
Under Select an account, open the dropdown and pick the sub-account your contacts should go to. In this example it's Houston.

Once you choose it, the HighLevel tab closes and you're back in NerdyTags with HighLevel connected.
Step 4: Check the connection
The HighLevel card shows that it "Adds subscribers as contacts in Houston, tagged nerdytags" (with your sub-account's name) and what it sends: New subscribers, Form submissions. Both are sent automatically.

On the card you'll also find:
The tag box. Every contact NerdyTags adds gets this tag. It's nerdytags by default, and you can change it to anything you like, then click Save tag.
Opportunities. This is Off by default. If you'd also like NerdyTags to create an opportunity in HighLevel, you can turn it on with Edit.
Sync now, to re-send recent subscribers right away.
Send subscribers you already have
When you connect, NerdyTags sets a start date. Only people who subscribe after that are sent automatically, and the card lets you know: "Only people who subscribe after this was set up are sent. Use 'Send existing subscribers' for earlier ones."
To send earlier subscribers too, click Send existing subscribers on the card. The button is there for 90 days after setup, and it sends subscribers from the last 90 days. You'll see how many people will be sent and can confirm before anything happens. Anyone already in HighLevel is updated, not added twice.

When you click the button, a dialog shows how many people will be sent, and you can cancel or confirm:

This example is from Google Sheets. The dialog's wording matches the app you're connecting (sheet, audience, list or contacts), so for HighLevel it talks about your contacts. After you confirm, the start date line and the button disappear from the card.
Don't see the button? That means all your subscribers have already been sent, or setup was more than 90 days ago.
What gets sent to HighLevel
New subscribers are added as contacts in your sub-account, with the name from your subscribe form, and tagged nerdytags (or your own tag). HighLevel shows them as Created by: INTEGRATION.
No duplicates. If someone is already in HighLevel, their contact is updated, not added a second time.
Here's a new subscriber in HighLevel's Contacts list:

How form submissions show up in HighLevel
Form submitters are added as contacts tagged nerdytags and nerdytags-form. If the person is already a contact, like a subscriber who later fills in your form, the nerdytags-form tag is added to that same contact.
Form answers are saved as a note on the contact, with the form name, the NerdyTags profile, the time it was submitted (in UTC) and each answer.
Submissions without an email or phone number are skipped.
A note looks like this:
Form submission: Contact Me
Profile: @yourprofile
Submitted: 2026-10-07 15:24 UTC
Email: [email protected]
Reason: General Question
Message: Testing the HighLevel form
And here it is on the contact in HighLevel, with both tags:

Because they're tagged, you can use these contacts in HighLevel right away, for example by starting a workflow when the nerdytags-form tag is added.
When subscribers and leads show up
New subscribers and form submissions are sent automatically, usually within a couple of minutes. Subscribers from before you connected are only sent when you use Send existing subscribers.
Sync now only re-sends people who subscribed after the start date, or from the last 90 days once you've used Send existing subscribers. It never sends your whole history.
Manage the connection
On the connected HighLevel card you can:
Change the tag in the tag box and click Save tag.
Click Edit next to Opportunities to turn opportunities on or off.
Use the on/off switch to pause or resume sending.
Click Sync now to re-send recent subscribers right away.
Click the pencil next to the name to rename the connection.
Click the trash icon to disconnect HighLevel. The prompt says "New subscribers will stop syncing. Anything already sent stays where it is."
Check that it's working
Run test on the automation is a dry run. It doesn't send anything to HighLevel or other apps.
To confirm the connection, wait for a real lead (or subscribe or fill in a form on one of your profiles yourself). Then, in HighLevel, open Contacts in your sub-account and search for the person's email. You should see them with the nerdytags tag, and form submitters will also have nerdytags-form and a note.
